Tine the Librarian

Where Instruction, Technology, and Librarianship Meet

Christine "Tine" Walczyk obtained her MLIS from UT Austin and her PhD in Information Science from the University of North Texas. Throughout her career, she has worked in or with every department, learning their processes, and providing support and direction. She has served as a direct asset to public and academic libraries as well as LIS students at UT Austin, Texas Woman's University, and the University of North Texas. Indirectly, she has effected the public libraries of Texas through her time as the state library's Manager of Continuing Education and Consulting. Tine has regularly provided workshops and training at various library conferences and supported small libraries as a Technology Consultant.

She invites opportunities to share her library technology knowledge. Her core strength is taking a topic and developing custom curriculum with the final audience in mind. Although an academic, her passion is for providing practitioners with hands-on, real world knowledge. She believes in giving back to the field by providing technology topics to librarians in language they understand.

Her dissertation looked at how participating in International Service Learning affected LIS graduate students. Her research interests lie in library culture, library philosophies, and international librarianship.
